Abstract

Village Development Index (IDM) is dedicated to strengthen the achievement of priority development targets as outlined in the 2015-2019 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), namely reducing the number of underdevelopedvillages to 5000 Villages, and increasing the number of independent villages to at least 2000 Villages by 2019. The Village Development Index (IDM) places the initiative and the strong capacity of the community as the main base in the process village development which includes aspects of social, economic and ecological resilience. Therefore, Village Development Index program is focused on the efforts to strengthen village autonomy through community empowerment. In this case,community empowerment aims to become the main foundation to increase the quality of participation, knowledge, and skills, or in general can be referred as a means to captivate the capacity and capability of the village community itself. In this context, the publication is expected to help the Ministry of Village- The Underdeveloped Development and Transmigration, also other State Ministries/Institutions, as well as provincial, district and municipal governments in determining the locus and strategic focus as development targets to achieve the national development goals. Keywords: Village development index, village development, national development goals
