The variety of Sugar-Sweetened Beverages in Indonesia is a concern related to the increasing incidence of non-communicable diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus (DM) and obesity. Some research results explain the dangers of consuming too much sugar to an increase in the incidence of non-communicable diseases such as DM, heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure. The circulation of Sugar-Sweetened Beverages in Indonesia is very free and easy to obtain, even by children. Looking at the risks posed by Sugar-Sweetened Beverages, it is necessary to control them. Several ways can be done for control, not only focused on the health sector but also require support from the financial, industrial, social, and media sectors. This study aims to encourage the importance of efforts to control the circulation of Sugar-Sweetened Beverages in Indonesia, especially to reduce the rate of increased DM in productive age. Data were collected from various sources mainly from scientific documents and related reviews on the control of Sugar-Sweetened Beverages, excise tax regulations on Sugar-Sweetened Beverages, and the prevalence of non-communicable diseases, especially diabetes mellitus in Indonesia. This study is to carry out health promotion efforts by increasing public awareness about the impact of Sugar-Sweetened Beverages and immediately issuing excise tax regulations for Sugar-Sweetened Beverages to reduce the rate of diabetes mellitus at productive age.
